Mars Story Original Soundtrack

Being a rabid Kouhei Tanaka fan, I hunted down this album after reading that it was composed by Kouhei Tanaka. Unfortunately, I had been misled. Tanaka had only composed the vocal theme song; the rest was done by a relatively unknown composer. So here I was, stuck with another obscure album that I may or may not enjoy.

Well, as it turns out, I didn’t enjoy it very much. Not only were my expectations let down regarding the composer, but the music itself was fairly bland. Even the vocal song, which was Tanaka’s contribution, was only moderately good. It’s a fairly cheesy pop ending song, with a nice Engrish refrain “Wings of your heart” to go out on the chorus.

As for the other songs, listen to the samples. Those songs were the very best I could find, so if they don’t impress you, nothing on this album will. So, for you Tanaka collectors, don’t even bother with this album: what you’re looking for is the even more obscure vocal album for this game. I believe Tanaka had some more contributions to that album, though I doubt that one is any good either.
