Like Working Designs’ first Lunar release, Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete came with an extensive assortment of packaging. One of the five discs inside the gargantuan box was a soundtrack. Twenty-four tracks from the PlayStation game, with much better sound quality than what is heard on the Playstation, and of course the English vocals created for the game.
I don’t know how many times I personally e-mailed Working Designs about them not having a tracklist with the Silver Star Story music CD. Fortunately, they heeded my advice (and the advice of many other fans I’m sure) by including a tracklist for this soundtrack. The tracklist is actually found on the side of the cardboard CD case that holds the soundtrack. I found this separate case to be a nice addition (it also has a space to hold the demo disc that came with Vanguard Bandits, if you had the disc and wished to put it there).
As for the actual music, I am definitely pleased. The import soundtrack only contains 16 tracks, so this one included more music from the actual game. The English vocals here are much better (in my opinion) than the Silver Star Story vocals, except when it comes to lyrics (they’re as cheesy as ever). The music also contains various melodies from Silver Star Story, which make the soundtrack more enjoyable for fans of the series. Again, this music is high-quality synth, I was very surprised with its quality.
This disc is literally packed with music, coming up to 73 minutes and 31 seconds of sweet Lunar goodness. Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete Soundtrack is one of the best domestic VGM releases to date, and I hope that this CD would help sway anyone to buy the game itself (yes, buying the game is the only way to get this disc). Oh, and on a personal note, I really like Gypsy Heart because it sounds like the famous Jazz Song “Take Five” (except this song’s in six, not five)!
